In this blog, we will walk you through the key steps involved in ensuring the success of your renovation project, from initial approvals to the final touches, here’s what you can expect:
Step 1: Project Approval and Startup
Once you’ve given us the green light via email or phone call, you’ll enter our startup process. Our admin team will reach out to you to prepare the project contract and issue a deposit invoice for your review, signature, and payment.
Step 2: Material Ordering and Scheduling
After you’ve settled the deposit invoice, we’ll jump on all your finishes and specialty materials – things like faucets, tile, and millwork. Our suppliers will provide us with estimated delivery times to help us set a precise start date in order to minimize downtime – we don’t want to start demolition if we know that your tile is backordered and is going to take three months to arrive! Our scheduling manager will then send you a renovation timeline for your reference.
Step 3: Permits and Handover Meeting
If your project requires building permits, don’t worry, we’ll handle the paperwork. We’ll also schedule a handover meeting, transitioning from our sales team to our project manager. This meeting includes a walkthrough to ensure everyone is on the same page about what exactly the scope entails and any additional details we may need such as parking, water shut off, and access. Depending on the size of your project, the walkthrough may include the necessary subtrades as well!
Step 4: Ongoing Communication and Site Preparation
Throughout the project, we maintain close communication with our suppliers to track product statuses. We’ll set up a lockbox for key access and confirm our team’s start time with you. Before work begins, we ask that you ensure all work areas are cleared and fragile items are stored safely.
Step 5: Demolition and Discovery
The renovation kicks off with site protection, ensuring areas we’re not working on remain safe. If you live in a condo, this often includes protecting the hallways and elevator (your strata will tell you what’s needed! Demolition follows, and after debris clearance our project manager will conduct a discovery day to address any underlying issues found behind substrates – things that we can’t see behind walls and under flooring, and process any necessary change orders
Step 6: Progress Updates and Adjustments
Throughout the project, we maintain weekly progress updates, keeping you informed about the work done and the plan for the following week. Communication is key, and if anything needs addressing, we’ll always discuss it with you!
Step 7: Final Walkthrough and Cleanup
At project completion, we schedule a final walkthrough with you to ensure everything in the scope is complete and aligns with your vision. If any touch-ups are needed, we’ll handle them at no extra cost. Our team will thoroughly clean the site and remove debris, leaving the space pristine.
Step 8: Professional Cleaning and Final Pictures
We offer a professional cleaning service, or you can choose your own. Once touch-ups are complete, we’ll schedule a picture day to capture final images of your stunning renovation, which we’ll happily share with you and on our social media and website
